Green Light for Arunachal! Gadkari Approves ₹3,890 Crore Highway Project

Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has given the green light for the construction of three sections of the National Highway 913 (Frontier Highway) in Arunachal Pradesh, with a total investment of Rs 3,890.45 crore. These sections include the Lada-Sarli, Sarli-Huri, and Kharsang-Miao-Vijaynagar – Gandhigram stretches, spanning a combined distance of 202.14 km.

Gadkari announced the approval of these construction projects through a series of posts on his official account on X (formerly Twitter). For the Lada-Sarli section, which covers 105.59 km, Rs 2,248.94 crore has been allocated. Packages 1, 2, 3, & 6 of this section will be executed in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode.

Similarly, Rs 1,014.59 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the Kharsang-Miao-Vijaynagar – Gandhigram section, which spans 61.55 km and will also be developed in EPC mode. The remaining Rs 626.92 crore will fund the construction of the Sarli-Huri section, covering 35 km in the Kurung Kumey district, also to be executed in EPC mode.

Gadkari underscored the significance of these projects in establishing a robust communication network for security forces and stimulating economic activities. He highlighted their role in facilitating reverse migration to vibrant border areas, connecting crucial river basins, and aiding the development of hydropower projects in the state.

Furthermore, Gadkari emphasized that these projects aim to ensure seamless and secure traffic flow while providing year-round connectivity to villages in the region. This initiative would enhance connectivity to border areas and discourage migration while promoting socio-economic development.

The Union Minister also emphasized the importance of these projects in developing essential road infrastructure to connect significant river basins, catalyzing the growth of hydropower projects, and promoting tourism in the sparsely populated Upper Arunachal region.
