Katraj-Kondhwa Bypass on Track for 2026 Finish

Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram has assured that the long-pending Katraj-Kondhwa bypass road project will be completed by June 2026. Speaking at a real estate conclave on September 11, he clarified that delays were due to administrative indecision, not feasibility issues.

Following a joint meeting with Pune District Collector Jeetendra Dudi, an integrated execution plan has been finalized. While ₹270 crore has been sanctioned for land acquisition, only 46,456 sq. ft. of the required 94.46 lakh sq. ft. has been acquired so far. To accelerate progress, ₹220 crore has been reallocated from other departments.

To reduce costs and expedite construction, the road width has been revised from 84 meters to 50 meters. Work has already commenced where land is available, including the construction of a grade separator to ease traffic. The PMC will also install 300 mm stormwater drains in flood-prone areas like Rajas Society and near SBI to prevent monsoon waterlogging.
