The Centre has approved national highway projects worth ₹30,425 crore in Telangana, covering 1,174 km, along with ₹868 crore under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for 422 km.
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced that 26 projects are currently in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage and urged the state government to expedite land acquisition and forest clearances to avoid delays.
A major proposal under active consideration is a four-lane elevated corridor through the Tiger Reserve, connecting Hyderabad to Srisailam—crucial due to night-time traffic restrictions on the existing route to protect wildlife.
Key projects include:
₹13,957 crore for a 161.5 km regional expressway from Girmapur to Tangadapalli, ₹2,662 crore for an 80 km stretch of NH-167, Expansions and repairs on NH-63, NH-565, NH-930P, and other key corridors
Several delayed projects—primarily due to land acquisition issues—are now expected to be fast-tracked. The Centre has placed a strong emphasis on road safety and meeting local infrastructure needs.
Highlighted initiatives also include an underpass at Hyderabad–Yadagirigutta and a cable-stayed bridge over the Krishna River.
