The ₹1,580 Cr Drive: HMDA Starts Key Elevated Corridor Work

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has initiated the first phase of the much-anticipated elevated corridor project from Paradise Junction to Military Dairy Farm Road, extending up to Suchitra Junction along National Highway-44 (NH-44).

The ₹1,580 crore project spans 5.4 km and is being executed by MVR Infra Projects. Soil testing is currently in progress to evaluate construction feasibility, after which traffic diversions will be implemented in coordination with the traffic police. Simultaneously, road widening and the relocation of key underground utilities, including 1,000 mm and 800 mm water pipelines, are nearing completion.

The planned six-lane corridor will include a 4.6 km elevated stretch and a 600-metre underground tunnel near Begumpet Airport, which received clearance from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in March 2025. The tunnel design accommodates a future Metro Rail line and addresses alignment challenges posed by sharp curves near the airport.

Once completed, the corridor is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in key areas such as Secunderabad, Tadbund, and Bowenpally, improving daily commutes for an estimated 1.5–2 lakh people and strengthening connectivity to northern Telangana.
