Juniper Green Energy has marked a major milestone with the commencement of commissioning for India’s first firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project under the Government of India’s flagship guidelines.
The project combines 259 MWp of solar capacity, 280 MW of wind power, and a 200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) across Rajasthan and Gujarat, forming an integrated platform to deliver reliable, dispatchable clean energy aligned with grid demand. Introduced by the Ministry of Power in June 2023, the FDRE framework is designed to address the challenge of intermittency in renewable energy by mandating the integration of solar, wind, and storage to ensure consistent and scheduled power supply for distribution companies.
Significant progress has already been achieved, with the solar component commissioned in March 2026 and the BESS system in April 2026.
Once fully operational, the project is expected to enhance grid stability, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and set a benchmark for future large-scale renewable energy developments in India.
“This marks the beginning of India’s first firm and dispatchable renewable energy project—a defining milestone in our vision to deliver reliable renewable power,” said Ankush Malik, CEO, Juniper Green Energy, highlighting the company’s execution strength and commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
