Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL) has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NTPC to develop a 200 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project. This innovative project will integrate solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) and will be implemented across multiple sites in India over the next 24 months.
With this addition, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity now stands at 10.9 GW, including 5.5 GW operational (4.5 GW solar and 1 GW wind) and 5.4 GW under development, evenly split between solar and wind, expected to be commissioned in phases within 6 to 24 months.
A key feature of the FDRE project is its ability to supply four hours of peak power daily, ensuring 90% availability during peak demand periods. The project, awarded through competitive bidding, is estimated to generate 1,300 million units (MUs) of clean energy annually, offsetting over one million tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year—further strengthening TPREL’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
