The Future of Indian Textiles: Powered by PM MITRA

To establish a modern, large-scale industrial infrastructure for the entire textile value chain, the Government has approved the setup of seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks across Greenfield and Brownfield sites. With a total scheme outlay of ₹4,445 crore for the period 2021-22 to 2027-28, these parks aim to enhance the competitiveness of India's textile industry.

The government has finalized seven locations:

Greenfield Parks: Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu), Navsari (Gujarat), Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Dhar (Madhya Pradesh), and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh).

Brownfield Parks: Warangal (Telangana) and Amravati (Maharashtra).

Each PM MITRA Park is expected to generate around 3 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across various segments of the textile sector. So far, investment MoUs worth ₹18,500 crore have been signed with potential investors. Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) have been formed in all five Greenfield states, with the Government of India contributing ₹4.90 crore per park and respective State Governments contributing ₹5.10 crore per park.

Additionally, infrastructure development has commenced, with a ₹111 crore work order issued for the PM MITRA Park in Amravati, Maharashtra.
