NTPC successfully synchronized Unit 3 (660 MW) of the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (NKSTPP) on March 19, 2025, marking a major milestone toward the full operationalization of the 1,980 MW plant.
Strategically located in Jharkhand’s Chatra district, this pit-head project will supply reliable, round-the-clock power to Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, and Sikkim, strengthening the Eastern region’s energy security. Notably, it is India’s first supercritical thermal power plant to incorporate an air-cooled condenser (ACC) at this scale, cutting water consumption to just one-third of conventional systems.
With this addition, NTPC further enhances its capacity to deliver sustainable power to millions, reinforcing its leadership in India’s energy sector and driving economic growth.
