Andhra Pradesh is accelerating efforts to expand its aviation infrastructure through increased private sector participation and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models under its New Aviation Policy 2024–30.
Issued by the State Department of Investments and Infrastructure, the policy presents a comprehensive roadmap for the development of aviation facilities across the state, including international airports, regional airfields, low-cost "no-frills" airports, water aerodromes, and heliports.
A key objective of the policy is to enhance air connectivity by ensuring that every region of Andhra Pradesh has access to an airport within approximately 150 kilometres. To support this goal, the state plans to develop 10 greenfield airports and 10 water aerodromes over the next four years, significantly expanding its aviation network.
The policy aims to attract substantial private investment in airport infrastructure and related services while positioning Andhra Pradesh as a major aviation gateway on India’s eastern coast. Improved connectivity is expected to facilitate tourism, trade, logistics, and industrial development, contributing to broader economic growth across the state.
Officials said the initiative will help create an integrated and future-ready aviation ecosystem, enhancing regional accessibility and supporting long-term infrastructure development. Through a combination of modern facilities, strategic investments, and improved connectivity, Andhra Pradesh aims to strengthen its role as a key transportation and economic hub in the region.
