Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to develop the upcoming Adilabad Airport with world-class infrastructure and modern facilities, citing its potential to serve both civilian and defence aviation needs.
During a meeting in New Delhi, the Chief Minister assured the Centre of the Telangana government's full support for the airport project, which is being developed under the Indian Air Force (IAF). He emphasized that the airport holds strategic importance for national security while also contributing to regional connectivity and economic growth.
Reddy requested the Defence Ministry to facilitate the establishment of large-scale cargo handling facilities, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centres, and aircraft hangars at the airport. He proposed integrating these facilities with the planned Indian Air Force terminal and civil aviation terminal to improve passenger services and create new opportunities for aviation-related industries.
The Chief Minister said the development of advanced aviation infrastructure at Adilabad would strengthen connectivity in northern Telangana and help transform the airport into a significant hub for both defence operations and commercial aviation activities.
