Kangra Airport Expansion Soars Ahead with ₹2,400 Crore Disbursed

Land acquisition and rehabilitation work for the expansion of Kangra Airport in Himachal Pradesh is advancing steadily, with approximately ₹2,400 crore already disbursed to beneficiaries.

The overall land acquisition and relief and rehabilitation (R&R) cost is estimated at ₹3,200 crore, with awards worth ₹2,580 crore announced across 14 revenue villages. The expansion impacts roughly 1,200 households, including residents of Gaggal township located 2 km from the site. A core component of the project is extending the runway from 1,376 meters to 3,010 meters, enabling larger narrow-body aircraft such as the Airbus A320 to land. This upgrade will improve regional accessibility, increase flight options, and create potential for future international operations, providing a massive boost to tourism in the Kangra Valley.
