Japanese Tech Powers Wheels India's Aluminium Ambition

Wheels India has entered into a technical assistance agreement with Japan-based Topy Industries to design, develop, and manufacture aluminium alloy wheels. Under the arrangement, Topy will provide technical expertise and engineering support to strengthen Wheels India’s design and manufacturing capabilities in the cast aluminium wheel segment.

Commenting on the collaboration, Managing Director Srivats Ram said the agreement would bring significant technical know-how, help the company secure new business, and enhance its competitive position. Topy Industries, a century-old leader in aluminium wheel manufacturing, will also support Wheels India in expanding its market reach.

Separately, Wheels India has secured new aluminium wheel orders from Hyundai and Volkswagen, with supplies scheduled to begin next year. The company is also ramping up capacity at its Thervoi Kandigai plant in Tamil Nadu, increasing annual production from five lakh to seven lakh wheels, with plans to scale up further to 10 lakh wheels by FY27.
