Rs 1,000 Cr Extra: Government Extends EV Two-Wheeler PLI to 2028

The government has bolstered the Auto Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme by allocating an additional Rs 1,000 crore specifically for electric two-wheelers, extending support until March 2028.

Originally set to expire in July 2026, the extension comes as the PLI program surpasses initial investment targets, drawing over Rs 45,000 crore in commitments against a targeted Rs 42,000 crore. While electric three-wheelers have surged past 41% market penetration, the renewed push aims to help electric two-wheelers close the gap to their 9–10% target from the current 7.6%.
