Uttar Pradesh Accelerates Green Mobility with 500-Acre EV Park

The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled plans for a Rs 700 crore Electric Vehicle (EV) Park near Bhimsen in Kanpur, as part of the Kanpur Metropolitan Development Vision – 2030. Spanning 500 acres along the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), the project will be developed by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) to position Kanpur as a key hub for EV manufacturing.

Developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, the park aims to strengthen the local EV ecosystem by hosting production facilities for electric motors, chassis, lithium-ion cells, steel parts, and essential EV components such as chargers, controllers, and electronic systems. A dedicated research and development (R&D) center will foster innovation and next-generation product development.

The park will also include an integrated EV components cluster for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), supporting local entrepreneurship and creating significant employment opportunities. Its strategic location along the DFC—with excellent rail and road connectivity—will enhance logistics efficiency.

Aligned with clean energy goals, the Kanpur EV Park is set to accelerate low-emission mobility and elevate Kanpur’s status on the global EV manufacturing map as a model of sustainable industrial growth.
