480 Acres, 1 Gigawatt: AP Greenlights Mega AI Data Center

The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated 480 acres of land in the Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts for the development of a 1 GW AI data centre.

Originally allotted to Raiden Infotech India, the land will now be transferred to Adani Infra (India) and its partners, including Google and Google Cloud, who have reaffirmed their commitment to the project. Designed to meet global standards, the data centre will feature world-class infrastructure as detailed in the project report submitted in August. Google’s AI hub in Visakhapatnam will be developed as a multi-layered investment over five years (2026–2030), encompassing gigawatt-scale data centre operations supported by a subsea cable network and clean energy sources.

The project is expected to help meet India’s rapidly growing AI workload demands. Implemented in partnership with ecosystem players such as AdaniConneX and Airtel, the initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening the country’s AI infrastructure and capabilities.
