500MW+ Strong: ACEN & UPC's India Renewable Ambition

ACEN and UPC Renewables have joined forces to develop over 500 MW of new renewable energy projects in India, including a 420 MW solar farm in Rajasthan’s Barmer region and a 120 MW wind farm in Karnataka.

Scheduled for completion by early 2027, the projects are expected to generate approximately 1,158 GWh of clean electricity annually—enough to power around 2.41 lakh homes and offset more than 8.76 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions each year. The solar plant in Rajasthan will contribute about 767 GWh annually, benefiting from the region’s high solar irradiance, while the Karnataka wind project will supply 391 GWh annually by capitalizing on monsoonal wind patterns and favorable terrain.

Together, the projects are anticipated to create over 1,500 jobs during the construction phase, boosting local employment and contributing to regional economic development.

ACEN International CEO Patrice Clausse underscored the strategic importance of expanding into high-growth markets like India through strong partnerships. UPC Renewables CEO Brian Cayn reaffirmed the continued strength of their alliance, building on the successful deployment of 630 MWp of solar capacity across India.
