₹36,000 Crore Boost: Adani Takes On Mumbai's Largest Housing Project

The Adani Group has secured its third significant real estate project in Mumbai with the redevelopment of the Motilal Nagar 1, 2, and 3 colonies in Goregaon (West). This follows its earlier involvement in the Dharavi redevelopment and the Bandra Reclamation land deal.

On 7 July 2025, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) signed a redevelopment agreement with Adani for the Motilal Nagar project, valued at an estimated ₹36,000 crore. Spanning 142 acres, it stands as one of Mumbai’s largest housing redevelopment projects and is being executed under the Construction and Development (C&D) model.

According to MHADA, the initiative will rehabilitate 3,372 eligible residential units, 328 commercial units, and 1,600 slum tenements under the provisions of the 1971 Slum Act. It is set to become the largest redevelopment project in the country to be implemented through the C&D model.

The agreement was signed at MHADA headquarters in the presence of key dignitaries, including Sanjeev Jaiswal, Vice President & CEO of MHADA, and Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Properties.
