55 Hotels, ₹3,211 Crore: Odisha’s Hospitality Gold Rush

The Odisha government has approved 55 new hotel and accommodation projects since July 2024, involving a total investment of ₹3,211.32 crore, providing a significant boost to the state’s tourism and hospitality infrastructure.

The approved projects include a diverse mix of five-star luxury hotels, eco-resorts, and budget accommodations, with Bhubaneswar continuing to serve as a major hospitality hub. At the same time, the government is encouraging tourism development in tribal and remote regions such as Koraput, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, and Ganjam, with a focus on nature-based and ecological tourism.

Several leading global and national hospitality brands are spearheading luxury developments across the state. These include projects by World of Hyatt, ITC Hotels, Accor, Marriott Bonvoy, and Radisson Hotels. Notable investments include a ₹139 crore Hyatt hotel and a ₹119.14 crore ITC property in Bhubaneswar.

Coastal destinations are also witnessing strong momentum, with premium resort developments in Puri and around Chilika Lake. Key projects include a ₹212.25 crore Marriott Bonvoy resort and a ₹110 crore ITC resort at Somolo Island, further strengthening Odisha’s position as an emerging luxury tourism destination.
