JSW JFE Electrical Steel Nashik, a pioneer in cold rolled grain-oriented (CRGO) electrical steel in India, has awarded John Cockerill India a contract to design, manufacture, and supply advanced tunnel furnaces for its Nashik facility.
The project includes supply of critical components such as coil handling systems, along with supervision of erection and commissioning, and is scheduled for completion in Q1 2027. This order forms a key part of JSW JFE’s capacity expansion, aiming to increase production from 50,000 TPA to 250,000 TPA, in response to growing demand for energy-efficient electrical infrastructure in India.
Joydeep Bhattacharjee, CEO, JSW JFE, stated:
“This expansion marks a significant milestone in our journey to strengthen India’s self-reliance in high-grade electrical steel production.”
The tunnel furnace plays a vital role in enhancing the magnetic properties of CRGO steel, essential for manufacturing high-efficiency power transformers.
