The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from reputed public companies, charitable trusts, or societies to develop, operate, and maintain a textile museum at the India United Mill No. 2 & 3 site in Byculla (East). The project will be located on a 44,000 sq. mtrs. plot (CS No. 831 of Mazgaon Division) at Kalachowky.
The selected entity will undertake the project for a 20-year term, entirely self-financed, with no funding from BMC. Estimated investment ranges from ₹80 crore to ₹100 crore. The project is envisioned as a CSR-driven or privately funded heritage initiative.
Acquired by BMC in 2009, the site is meant to celebrate Mumbai’s rich textile legacy. Plans also include public amenities such as a musical fountain, murals, and an amphitheatre.
The submission deadline for EoIs is July 28 at the BMC headquarters in Fort.
