ABB India has successfully delivered state-of-the-art automation and advanced digital solutions for Indian Oil Corporation’s (IOCL) extensive 20,000-km oil and gas pipeline network. This system plays a critical role in meeting India's energy requirements, facilitating the transportation of 125 million tonnes of oil and 49 million standard cubic meters (mmscm) of gas annually.
At the heart of this transformation is ABB’s Ability SCADAvantage platform, which is seamlessly integrated with robust cybersecurity and disaster recovery systems. These solutions enable centralized control through IndianOil's Centralized Pipeline Information Management System (CPIMS). In addition, ABB has committed to a 10-year ABB Care contract, which will ensure the integration of all existing pipelines under CPIMS, offering long-term operational support.
Senthil Kumar N, Director (Pipelines) at IndianOil, highlighted, “By leveraging cutting-edge technology, this initiative is designed to eliminate manual operations, driving enhanced efficiency, productivity, and reliability across our pipeline network.” Awarded the CPIMS contract in February 2024, ABB completed the design and implementation of this advanced system within just one year.
