Adani Pours ₹30,000 Cr into Navi Mumbai Airport Takeoff

The Adani Group is set to invest an additional ₹30,000 crore in the expansion of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), which is scheduled to begin operations in December 2025, according to Business Standard.

With approximately ₹20,000 crore already invested, NMIA is poised to become India’s largest greenfield airport project. The first phase will accommodate up to 20 million passengers annually, with major airlines including Air India, IndiGo, and Akasa Air confirmed to operate from the new hub.

The second phase, expected to be completed by 2029, will increase capacity by an additional 30 million passengers, and include:

A major cargo terminal, India’s largest MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) facility, featuring five hangars

The project is being financed through a mix of debt and equity, with the Maharashtra government holding a 26% stake. Once fully operational, NMIA will feature four terminals and handle up to 3.8 million tonnes of cargo annually, significantly enhancing India's aviation and logistics infrastructure.
