Yogi Adityanath chaired a high-level review meeting on major strategic initiatives aimed at accelerating Uttar Pradesh’s long-term economic and technology-driven growth, including the Uttar Pradesh Data Centre Cluster (UPDCC) and Project Ganga.
During the review of the UPDCC initiative, the Chief Minister said the project would serve as a key foundation for the state’s artificial intelligence ecosystem and directed officials to expand its development beyond the NCR region into other parts of Uttar Pradesh.
He proposed initiating the project in the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) region, citing the availability of large land parcels, and also called for collaboration with major technology companies, including the Tata Group, to help develop Lucknow as an AI-focused city.
Officials stated that the Uttar Pradesh Data Centre Cluster has been conceptualised as a long-term initiative to position the state as India’s leading AI compute hub and a global destination for data infrastructure, cloud services, and advanced technology manufacturing.
The broader plan aims to support India’s vision of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy, create more than 1.5 lakh employment opportunities, and establish a five-gigawatt AI compute corridor by 2040 in line with emerging global trends in artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors, and digital technologies.
