Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is planning a major expansion of its India operations and may lease millions of square feet of additional office space in Bengaluru, according to a Bloomberg News report.
The US technology major has already leased one office tower and secured options for two more at Alembic City, a large commercial development in Whitefield, one of Bengaluru’s प्रमुख technology corridors. Together, the three towers account for nearly 2.4 million square feet of office space. The first tower is expected to be operational for employees in the coming months, while the remaining two buildings are scheduled for completion next year.
If Alphabet occupies the entire complex, the space could accommodate up to 20,000 additional employees, potentially more than doubling the company’s current India workforce of around 14,000.
