Amaravati-Hyderabad: Just 70 Minutes Away!

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced plans for a new high-speed rail corridor that will cut travel time between Amaravati and Hyderabad to just 70 minutes.

The proposed project includes a 57-km rail line from Errupalem to Namburu, along with a three-km bridge across the Krishna River. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for a Google AI data centre, the minister said the corridor will form part of a broader high-speed rail network connecting Amaravati with major cities such as Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai.

Indicative travel times under the proposed network include about 1 hour 55 minutes from Hyderabad to Pune, 48 minutes from Pune to Mumbai, and 73 minutes from Chennai to Bengaluru. The project is part of India’s wider bullet train initiative and is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity and economic integration.

Vaishnaw highlighted that the development could replicate the economic impact seen in the Ahmedabad–Mumbai high-speed rail corridor, where multiple cities are expected to function as a unified economic region due to reduced travel times. He added that a similar transformation is anticipated in Andhra Pradesh, with faster connectivity acting as a catalyst for growth across the region.
