Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met with Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, on 16 July 2025, to seek central assistance for strengthening the state’s sports infrastructure. The CM requested ₹538 crore for the development of stadiums across Andhra Pradesh and ₹25 crore for hosting the Khelo India Martial Arts Games later this year.
He also urged the Centre to expedite ongoing Khelo India infrastructure projects in Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, and Narasaraopeta. An official statement emphasized the state’s commitment to building a strong sports ecosystem under its 2024–29 Sports Policy.
As part of this vision, the Chief Minister proposed setting up an international-standard badminton training centre and a national aquatic sports hub in Amaravati, along with water sports training centres along the Krishna River.
The state has also submitted proposals to establish National Centres of Excellence at Nagarjuna University and Kakinada. Additional funding requests include ₹27 crore for upgrading Indira Gandhi Stadium in Vijayawada, ₹170 crore for a multi-sport complex at BR Stadium in Guntur, and ₹341 crore for sports infrastructure development across the state.
He also sought the establishment of more Khelo India centres and a Sports Authority of India training centre in Tirupati and the Rayalaseema region.
