Avaada’s Solar Surge: 6,000 MW Cell Plant Goes Live

Avaada Group is set to begin operations at its solar cell manufacturing facility in Nagpur next month, marking a significant step forward in India's efforts to strengthen domestic renewable energy manufacturing capabilities and reduce reliance on imports.

Developed by Avaada Electro, the facility will have a solar cell production capacity of 6,000 MW, making it one of the largest solar cell manufacturing plants in the country. The project forms part of the company’s broader strategy to establish an integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem that spans the entire photovoltaic value chain.

The Nagpur complex already hosts a solar module manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 7,000 MW. Over the coming year, the company plans to expand the site by adding polysilicon, ingot, wafer and cell manufacturing capabilities. By December 2026, Avaada aims to create a fully integrated production chain from ingots to finished solar modules, enhancing supply chain resilience and supporting India's push for self-reliance in clean energy manufacturing.

As part of its long-term expansion plans, the company is also evaluating the establishment of a dedicated solar glass manufacturing unit in Nagpur, further strengthening localisation across the solar value chain.

The overall project involves an investment of approximately Rs 13,000 crore, with nearly Rs 5,000 crore already invested. Alongside expanding its manufacturing footprint, Avaada Electro is also preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) while focusing on the development of advanced solar technologies and products to meet growing domestic and global demand.
