Bata's Bold Step: ₹30 Crore Boost for Batanagar Plant

Bata India has invested ₹30 crore in its Batanagar facility in West Bengal as part of its broader transformation strategy to modernize manufacturing operations and enhance product innovation.

The investment is focused on deploying advanced technologies such as the Polyurethane Direct Injection Process (PUDIP) and IM EVA machinery. These upgrades will support the production of high-performance footwear lines, including Floatz and Bata Industrials. According to Anjan Kundu, Head of Supply Chain Management at Bata India, this marks a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to improve product quality, drive innovation, and increase operational efficiency.

The move also aligns with Bata India’s growth strategy to expand its retail presence, particularly in non-metro markets. Over the past year, the company has opened nearly 130 new stores—more than half in smaller towns—bringing its total retail footprint to over 500 stores nationwide. With this expansion, Bata India continues to strengthen its position as a leading player in the country’s footwear industry.
