Bhopal Takes Flight: MP's First Aircraft MRO Hub Lands by 2026

Bhopal is set to become the site of Madhya Pradesh’s first aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility, scheduled for completion by 2026 at Raja Bhoj Airport.

The Rs 25 crore project is being developed on a 1.5-acre site and will be capable of servicing a wide range of aircraft, including regional jets and narrow-body planes, for both domestic and international carriers. The facility will feature dedicated hangars, advanced workshops, and specialized equipment for full-scale aircraft servicing.

A training centre will also be established to promote skill development among technical personnel, benefiting students from local engineering colleges and technical institutes.

Strategically located in central India, the MRO facility is expected to support airline operations nationwide, reducing aircraft downtime and operational costs. The project aligns with the government’s vision of enhancing self-reliance in aviation services and aims to attract carriers from neighbouring states. It is also projected to generate direct and indirect employment, stimulate sectors like logistics and hospitality, and adhere to international safety and environmental standards.
