Bigger, Better, Baettr: The ₹73 Crore Expansion in India

Baettr, the Denmark-based renewable energy equipment manufacturer, has broken ground on a major capacity expansion at its wind turbine casting facility located in the SIPCOT Industrial Park at Thervoy Kandigai, Gummidipoondi, near Chennai.

The ₹73 crore expansion will raise Baettr’s total investment in the facility to approximately ₹280 crore. Upon completion, the plant’s annual production capacity of saleable castings will increase from 27,500 tonnes to 95,040 tonnes, nearly quadrupling its existing capacity. The expansion is being undertaken to meet rising demand from wind turbine original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and further reinforces Tamil Nadu’s position as a key manufacturing hub for the renewable energy sector.

The project underscores the state’s growing role in supporting the global transition to clean and renewable energy. Baettr’s investment reflects its strong commitment to scaling up manufacturing capabilities to serve the rapidly expanding renewable energy market.
