Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has awarded Lummus Technology a key contract for a new ethylene plant and associated downstream units in Bina, Madhya Pradesh. This plant will be a cornerstone of BPCL’s Bina Petrochemicals and Refinery Expansion project, significantly boosting the company’s production capacity.
The upcoming facility will produce 1,200 KTA of ethylene and 550 KTA of propylene, vital for downstream polymer units. The project marks a major step in BPCL’s strategy to enhance its footprint in the petrochemical market, aligning with its broader vision of sustainable growth and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Lummus Technology will provide a comprehensive suite of technologies, including ethylene, low pressure recovery, total C4 hydrogenation, pygas hydrogenation, and wet air oxidation. Additionally, Sulzer’s extractive distillation technology will be utilized, ensuring efficient production processes.
The scope of the agreement also covers detailed engineering of heaters, advisory services, and extensive training programs to ensure seamless integration of these advanced technologies.
This collaboration underscores BPCL’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, reinforcing its leadership in India’s growing petrochemical industry while contributing to the country’s energy security.
