Breathing New Life into Cochin’s Historic Port Hub

The Cochin Port Employees Organisation (CPEO) has called on port management to renovate and redevelop Willingdon Island, addressing a 15-year trade slump triggered by the shifting of container operations to Vallarpadam. Speaking at the CPEO’s 21st Biennial Conference, General Secretary C.D. Nandakumar emphasized the need to upgrade basic infrastructure, revive cargo traffic, and fully utilize the Cochin Port Container Freight Station to boost local employment.
