In a significant boost for electricity consumers, the Central government has earmarked coal linkage for the new 800 MW expansion unit at the Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant in Khedar, Hisar district.
The coal linkage, allocated under the Centre’s Shakti Scheme, will ensure a stable and long-term supply of coal, which is essential for uninterrupted power generation. Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij said the move would prevent potential disruptions caused by fuel shortages and strengthen the state’s energy security. “The allocation of coal linkage will fast-track the implementation of this vital project and help meet the state’s growing electricity demand,” he said.
The expansion of the Khedar thermal power plant is expected to significantly enhance Haryana’s power generation capacity, ensuring reliable electricity supply to industrial, agricultural, and domestic consumers. Through this initiative, the state aims to move towards self-reliance in the power sector while providing affordable and dependable electricity.
