Crown Defence has announced a strategic expansion of its maritime business, broadening its scope from maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services to encompass shipbuilding support, turnkey refit projects and advanced systems integration for the Indian naval sector.
The expansion will be undertaken through its maritime subsidiaries, Dynatron Services Private Limited (DSPL) and OSK India Private Limited (OIPL), with a focus on increasing participation in shipbuilding programmes, modular construction, naval modernisation initiatives and platform integration projects. The move aligns with the company’s objective of strengthening its presence across the maritime defence value chain and supporting the evolving requirements of India’s naval infrastructure.
Leveraging nearly five decades of experience in serving the Indian Navy, Crown Defence has established operations across several major shipbuilding and repair facilities, including those operated by Larsen & Toubro, Cochin Shipyard Limited, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited and Goa Shipyard Limited. The company currently undertakes activities such as hull block fabrication, modular construction, engineering support, mechanical integration and project execution for a range of naval platforms.
Crown Defence also highlighted its involvement in key naval programmes, including guarantee refits of INS Vikramaditya and modernisation works for EKM-class submarines, demonstrating its expertise in supporting complex defence maritime assets.
At present, the company’s maritime operations extend across 12 shipyards and naval repair facilities throughout India. In addition, Crown Defence is actively exploring localisation opportunities under the Make in India initiative and evaluating strategic partnerships, technology collaborations and potential acquisitions to further enhance its shipbuilding, naval support and systems integration capabilities.
The expansion is expected to strengthen the company’s role in India’s maritime defence ecosystem while supporting indigenous shipbuilding and naval modernisation efforts.
