Cupid Breweries and Distilleries Ltd is making strides to establish a new manufacturing facility in Sikkim. The company has formally approached the Government of Sikkim for land and necessary licenses to produce beer, Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), and malt spirits. This initiative marks a significant step in their expansion strategy.
The new management recently engaged with Sikkim officials and received a letter of interest from the Director of MSME, Commerce & Industries, dated August 2, 2024. The government has preliminarily agreed to allocate suitable land for the project, pending identification. This facility will require substantial capital investment and is expected to create around 100 direct jobs, alongside numerous indirect employment opportunities.
Cupid Breweries' new unit is poised to contribute significantly to Sikkim’s revenue through taxes. The project aligns with the company's growth objectives while also boosting the local economy. The next steps include securing an industrial license from the Commerce & Industries Department, a brewery license from the Excise Department, and environmental clearances from the Sikkim Pollution Control Board.
This development underscores the new management’s commitment to advancing Cupid Breweries’ expansion plans. The proposed facility in Sikkim represents a strategic move to enhance production capacity and market reach.
