Dilip Buildcon Bags ₹1,850 Cr Karnataka Power Project

Dilip Buildcon has been declared the successful bidder by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) for the development of a 400 kV substation at Mekhali in Belagavi district, Karnataka, along with associated transmission lines.

The project has been awarded through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route on a build–own–operate–transfer (BOOT) basis, with a concession period of 35 years from the commercial operation date (COD). Dilip Buildcon will acquire 100 per cent equity in the project’s special purpose vehicle (SPV) and will function as the transmission service provider, responsible for the development, ownership, operation, and maintenance of the intra-state transmission system under a transmission service agreement.

The project scope includes the construction of a 400/220/33 kV air-insulated substation (AIS) and the development of associated 400 kV and 220 kV transmission lines. Construction and commissioning are planned to be completed within 24 months from the effective date. The contract value stands at ₹1,850 crore (EPC cost excluding GST) and will be implemented under a tariff-based annuity framework.
