KPI Green Energy has received three notifications of award (NoAs) from NTPC for the development of a plasma gasification-based green hydrogen generation project.
The project will be implemented at NTPC’s NETRA facility in Greater Noida and will utilise municipal solid waste–refuse derived fuel (MSW-RDF) and agricultural residues as feedstock. The combined value of the contracts awarded under the NoAs is ₹128.49 crore. Designed to produce one tonne of green hydrogen per day, the project will deploy plasma gasification—an advanced waste-to-energy technology that converts municipal waste, refuse-derived fuel and agricultural biomass into synthesis gas, which can then be processed to produce clean hydrogen.
The initiative underscores NTPC’s increasing focus on sustainable energy solutions and aligns with India’s broader push towards clean energy and decarbonisation. Once operational, the project is expected to support green hydrogen production while also promoting effective waste management through the utilisation of municipal and agricultural waste.
