The Maharashtra government has launched a fresh survey to explore the inclusion of Nashik and Nagpur in Phase-II of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project, signalling renewed focus on expanding industrial development across the state.
While Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Dighi Port industrial areas were part of the DMIC's first phase, launched over a decade ago, Nashik was excluded due to technical reasons, according to State Industry Secretary P. Anbalagan, who recently visited Nashik.
“The key challenge for Nashik and Nagpur is ensuring adequate availability of land and water resources for proposed industrial projects,” he noted.
Local industrial associations in Nashik have consistently lobbied for inclusion in the DMIC, citing its potential to drive growth and employment.
Currently, the DMIC is operational in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and infrastructure tenders worth ₹1,400 crore have been floated for development at Dighi Port.
“Once infrastructure is in place, plots will be allotted to industries,” Anbalagan added.
The DMIC project aims to create a globally competitive industrial base equipped with world-class infrastructure, boosting manufacturing, logistics, and investment opportunities across the corridor.
