DMRC and Monash University Partner for Metro Rail Innovation

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, to collaborate on cutting-edge research in metro rail systems.

Facilitated by the Institute of Railway Technology (IRT) at Monash, the MoU was signed at Metro Bhawan in New Delhi in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.

The partnership will focus on joint research in critical areas such as automation of rolling stock, advanced track maintenance techniques, and technology exchange. It also establishes a framework for academic and research exchange between Monash University and the DMRC Academy, which will serve as the central hub for training and knowledge sharing under the initiative.

Under the agreement, DMRC will identify specific metro rail research projects to be undertaken in collaboration with IRT through separate contractual arrangements.

In addition to research, the collaboration aims to support capacity building and technical cooperation, particularly in the training and development of metro engineers.

“This MoU marks a significant leap in DMRC’s global partnerships, especially with one of the world’s most respected institutions in railway technology,” DMRC said.

The initiative is designed to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and passenger experience, while driving innovation, reliability, and sustainability in metro rail systems.
