Equinix Expands India Footprint with $69M Chennai Data Center

US-based digital infrastructure company Equinix has launched its first data centre in Chennai, named CN1, marking a strategic expansion of its presence in India.

The facility was officially inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Developed with an initial investment of $69 million, CN1 currently offers a capacity of 800 cabinets, with plans to scale up to 4,250 cabinets over the next 3–4 years across four phases.

CN1 will deliver Equinix’s full suite of interconnection and digital infrastructure services, including Equinix Fabric, which enables enterprises to leverage hybrid multicloud environments. The new data centre is poised to play a pivotal role in meeting the region’s rapidly growing digital infrastructure demands.
