In a major push toward indigenous innovation, the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas announced the establishment of a National Hydrocarbon Technology Hub during the 29th Energy Technology Meet (ETM) 2026.
Unveiled by Joint Secretary Alok Tripathi, the proposed hub aims to bridge the gap between laboratory research and commercial application across the upstream, midstream, and downstream segments. By establishing a nationally coordinated research ecosystem, the hub will accelerate the deployment of cutting-edge solutions across India’s oil and gas value chain.
To strengthen academic and technical collaboration, the ministry has formalized partnerships through memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with key academic bodies, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT).
