Flow On! Gurugram’s Chandu Budhera WTP Unit 5 Hits Trial Phase

Trial operations for the fifth 100 MLD unit at the Chandu Budhera Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Gurugram will commence next week. This expansion boosts the plant’s capacity from 400 MLD to 500 MLD, significantly improving water distribution across Sectors 81 through 115.

Originally slated for completion by April 2026, the ₹52.50 crore project—initiated in March 2024—faced slight delays while awaiting an electricity connection. With power now connected, machinery pre-commissioning tests are actively underway.

Looking ahead, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is evaluating tenders for a sixth 100 MLD unit at the plant. Additionally, the Haryana Government has approved ₹149 crore for a new 100 MLD plant at Basai, targeted for completion by early 2029.
