Food Processing & Textiles Drive ₹2,963 Crore Investment in Ujjain

Four companies have submitted investment proposals totaling nearly Rs 2,963 crore in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district, potentially creating employment for approximately 13,150 individuals, according to the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC). The proposals include three food processing units and one large-scale textile manufacturing unit.

Amitex Agro Product plans to establish a food processing facility in Lalukhedi, Agar Malwa, with an investment of Rs 200 crore, expected to generate around 800 jobs. Sanket Oils has proposed a Rs 75 crore investment to set up an edible oil processing unit in Mandsaur, aiming to create employment for 650 people. Safal Food has proposed a pulses milling unit in Mandsaur with an investment of Rs 138 crore, projected to employ around 800 workers.

The largest proposal comes from Jain Cord Industries, which intends to invest Rs 2,500 crore in a textile and apparel manufacturing unit at Basai in Mandsaur district, creating job opportunities for approximately 11,000 people.

Commenting on the developments, Rajesh Rathod, Executive Director of MPIDC Indore, stated, "Food processing and textile units are increasingly interested in establishing operations in the industrial corridors of Ujjain. Factors such as proximity to Indore, access to an airport and dry port, availability of land, and a skilled workforce have made the region attractive for industrial growth."

At the Agriculture Industry Conclave held in Sitamau, Mandsaur, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav laid the foundation stones and issued letters of intent to 11 companies proposing total investments exceeding Rs 3,800 crore. In response to the rising investor interest, MPIDC is advancing the development of Phase-II of the Jaggakhedi industrial area over 72 hectares and is acquiring undeveloped land in Dhikola and Bhuki villages in Mandsaur to facilitate further industrial expansion.
