The Central Government is set to launch a major road infrastructure development initiative in Telangana, with projects worth ₹2 lakh crore planned over the next three to four years.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced the plans during an event in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, where he also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated road projects valued at over ₹3,900 crore. He highlighted that the length of national highways in Telangana has doubled over the past decade, now reaching 5,000 km. "So far, projects worth ₹1.25 lakh crore have already been completed," the Minister stated.
Beyond road development, Gadkari also proposed launching water conservation initiatives under the Centre’s "Amrit Sarovar" scheme and urged Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and other state leaders to support the effort.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, who attended the event, stressed that the infrastructure developments would enhance connectivity within Telangana and with neighbouring states such as Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
The event saw the participation of several senior leaders, including Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Telangana Ministers Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and Danasari Anasuya Seethakka.
