GAIL (India) Ltd has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Khanij Bidesh India Ltd (KABIL) to jointly explore opportunities in critical and strategic minerals, reinforcing India's efforts to secure essential resources for the energy transition and advanced technology sectors.
The partnership will focus on identifying and evaluating critical mineral assets, developing joint projects across the mining value chain, and promoting technical collaboration, knowledge sharing and capacity-building initiatives. The initiative is aimed at strengthening domestic access to minerals vital for renewable energy, electric mobility and other strategic industries, while enhancing the resilience of India's critical mineral supply chains.
KABIL is a joint venture of National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO), Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) and Mineral Exploration & Consultancy Ltd (MECL), established to secure overseas critical mineral assets for India. Through this collaboration, GAIL expands its strategic role in supporting the country's long-term energy security and resource sustainability objectives.
