GAIL's Largest CGD Deal Powers Tata Steel in Jamshedpur

GAIL (India) Ltd. – CGD East Singhbhum GA has signed a landmark Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) with Tata Steel, marking a major milestone in its city gas distribution (CGD) operations. The agreement involves the supply of natural gas to Tata Steel’s combi-mill plant in Jamshedpur, representing GAIL’s largest industrial customer onboarding in its CGD network to date.

Under the deal, GAIL will initially supply 31,000 standard cubic meters per day (SCMD) of natural gas, with plans to ramp up to 43,000 SCMD in the near future.

This development significantly strengthens GAIL’s presence across key CGD areas including Varanasi, Patna, Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Cuttack, and Khurda, and reinforces its commitment to enabling cleaner, more efficient energy solutions for India’s industrial sector.

The agreement aligns with India’s energy transition goals, supporting sustainable industrial growth while reducing the carbon footprint of large-scale manufacturing.
