Game On: Bengaluru Gets a New ₹1,650 Crore Sports Complex

In a major push to elevate Bengaluru’s sporting profile, a ₹1,650 crore world-class sports complex is set to come up at Surya City, Bommasandra. The project was officially announced on August 21, 2025, by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who described it as “Bengaluru’s big leap into global sports.”

Spread over 75 acres, the complex will house India’s second-largest stadium, with a seating capacity of 60,000, alongside state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor arenas, Olympic-sized swimming pools, elite training facilities, and a modern gym. Designed to meet international standards, the venue will also include hotels, hostels, guest houses, and a convention centre—making it ideal for global tournaments and cultural events.

Deputy CM Shivakumar noted that the location in Surya City aligns with Bengaluru’s planned urban expansion, boosting infrastructure in this emerging corridor. With construction slated to begin soon, the project aims to nurture sporting talent, attract international events, and position Bengaluru prominently on the global sports map.
