Ganga Expressway Construction Update: 79% Complete

The Ganga Expressway, a six-lane highway with the potential for expansion to eight lanes, is a major infrastructure project linking Meerut and Prayagraj. With 79 percent of its construction now complete, the expressway is rapidly approaching its operational phase.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the construction site on 27 April 2025, stressing the importance of finishing the project on schedule and upholding the highest quality standards. The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that all work is completed within the designated timeline.

Stretching from Bijauli village on the Meerut-Bulandshahr highway to near Judapur Dadu village on NH-19 in Prayagraj, the expressway will drastically cut travel time between the two cities—from the current 10-12 hours to approximately six to eight hours. Spanning 518 villages across 12 districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, and Pratapgarh, the project will improve regional connectivity.

The expressway is designed with a robust infrastructure that includes 28 flyovers, 381 underpasses, and 126 small bridges. To enhance the travel experience, nine public convenience complexes will be built at key locations along the route.
