The Bihar government has strengthened its commitment to developing a comprehensive sports infrastructure, extending from the district level down to the panchayat level in Siwan, as confirmed by District Magistrate (DM) Mukul Kumar Gupta. He highlighted that key projects such as sports complexes, gyms, open gyms, indoor stadiums, and the hiring of sports coaches are underway, with the goal of benefiting future generations.
The district is undergoing extensive development, with significant progress being made across various levels. At the panchayat level, the construction of sports grounds featuring basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts, as well as running tracks, is actively progressing. At the block level, several stadiums are under construction, with three already completed. At the district level, three new multi-purpose halls will be built in Jiradei's Bhainsa Khal, Srinagar Colony, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. Additionally, plans for an international-level swimming pool at Bhainsakhal are in the final stages of tendering, with an estimated cost of eight crores.
The DM emphasized that these developments will provide district-level athletes with world-class facilities, enabling them to compete at national and international levels. The Bihar government’s "Medal Lao Naukri Pao" (Bring a Medal, Get a Job) initiative, combined with the "Khelo India" scheme, which offers annual incentives of Rs five lakh to top-performing athletes, is boosting athlete morale and encouraging their professional growth.
These efforts aim to build a strong sports ecosystem that nurtures talent, provides top-tier facilities at the grassroots level, and inspires athletes to perform at higher competitive levels, positioning Bihar to make a mark on the national sports scene.
