A new Metro corridor connecting Sitabuldi and Koradi has been approved as part of the recently unveiled Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) for the Nagpur Metropolitan Region.
The announcement followed a high-level stakeholder meeting held on July 27, 2025, attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and other key officials. The CMP—jointly prepared by MahaMetro and RITES—aims to guide the development of mass rapid transit corridors based on traffic patterns, projected ridership, and long-term mobility needs.
Under Phase 1 of the CMP, two High-Capacity Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) corridors have been proposed: the 11.5 km Sitabuldi–Koradi line and the 25 km Mankapur Chowk–Rachana Junction corridor along the Inner Ring Road. Combined, the two projects are estimated to cost Rs 8,625 crore.
Based on Peak Hour Peak Direction Traffic (PHPDT) and ridership forecasts, the Sitabuldi–Koradi corridor has been given top priority. MahaMetro officials project that this route will cater to 1.47 lakh daily commuters by 2054.
Additionally, a Phase IV of the Nagpur Metro has been proposed, though specific routes under that phase are yet to be announced.
